Frequently Asked Questions:
|
Why use an urgent care center rather than my regular
doctor?
The convenience of no appointments, extended hours allows flexibility
to use our facility for your care. However, we do not follow patients over
time and do not give childhood immunizations. Therefore, it is still important
to follow-up with primary doctor for your care.
Why not use the Emergency Room?
The significant wait and higher costs of Emergency Room visit make
Medical Urgent Care the preferred option for urgent illness/injuries. If you
have a true life threatening emergency, you must go to an emergency room.
Do we work with other doctors?
Yes, we do. We always refer you back to your primary doctor after
treatment of your medical problem. If you don’t have a primary physician,
we will be glad to assist and refer you to a great physician in the community.
Do you refer patients to specialists?
Yes. We handle immediately urgent problems such as sprains,
fractures, lacerations, vomiting, diarrhea, dehydration, etc. and refer patients
to the appropriate specialist within days or immediately if the illness warrants.
What insurance do you accept?
We accept all insurance. Patients without insurance are welcome to
visit our clinic and will pay much less than an emergency room visit.
Is x-ray available?
Yes. We have x-ray facilities on site.
How are you different from the emergency room?
We see many of the same type of patients as seen in the emergency room.
The sicker patient, those requiring hospitalization or intensive work-ups,
chest pain, traffic accidents, major trauma and life threatening problems
must be seen at the hospital emergency room. We often will see a patient
here that should have gone to the ER. We transport these by paramedics to
ER, less than a mile from our facility.
Do your doctors have regular patients?
Since we are an urgent care center, our emphasis is on the urgent care
patient. We always refer patients back to their primary medical doctor.
Do I need to make an appointment?
No. We are open seven days a week from 10am to 8pm. You can walk in
any time during our hours of operation.
Do you handle Workman’s compensation?
Yes, but we will see you for your initial visit and refer you to centers
specialized in following workman’s compensation cases.
What if I or my family suspects a Heart Attack or
a Stroke?
You should activate EMS and get to an ER as soon as possible. Urgent
Care Center is not able to handle a heart attack or a Stroke.
Do you see patients with urgent illnesses?
We will see patients for almost anything: bladder-infections, flu, colds, high
blood pressure checks, minor trauma, fractures, lacerations, ear wax
removal, rashes, bites, muscular pains, etc.
Do you do Physicals?
Yes, we can do your child’s physical at any of our convenient hours.
